Lunch Procedures

BBCHS is committed to partnering with parents to ensure that every student is given the opportunity for a school lunch. It is the mission of BBCHS to offer healthy choices and quality food at reasonable prices to our student body. BBCHS recognizes the link between learning and nutrition and provides students an opportunity to select nutritious food that will help contribute to both aspects.

Breakfast and lunch are available to students. Hot and cold breakfasts are available from 6:50am to 7:50am. Breakfast prices for students are $1.95. Lunch is served during designated lunch hours with multiple lines in the north café and south café. Lunch prices are $3.00.  A la Carte items will also be available for purchase if your student has sufficient funds in their account. Students are required to have their student ID’s to be served.

Money can be deposited online through your student’s account at www.myschoolbucks.com, in the main office, or at the cafeteria register during check out and will be used until the balance has been depleted.

Each student will be told their balance daily when purchasing lunch. Account balances can also be found on the My School Bucks website as well as emailed to parents (if that notification option is checked upon registration). Each student’s account can be set up with parameters regarding notifications as well as auto-refilling account options.

When student lunch account balances are under $10, students are verbally notified that three lunches are available with their current balance. If an insufficient balance occurs, the student will receive a reserve lunch, and the student will be notified of their insufficient balance. No charging of a la carte items will be allowed if account has a negative balance. If a second consecutive reserve lunch is received by the student, the grade level administrator will reach out to the student and parents regarding the situation. Students who receive reserve lunches will be charged a regular lunch price once their account has been adjusted.

Parents are encouraged to apply for free or reduced priced meals. Applications can be filled out after July 1st online by visiting  this link - HeartlandApps or clicking HeartlandApps button under Breakfast/Lunch Information.. Completing applications prior to the start of the school year will enable the application process to be complete before the first day of school. All applications go directly to our Director of Food Services. Parents who complete the application after the start of school will be contacted via email or phone 3-10 days after application has be submitted. The reduced breakfast and lunch prices are $.30 and $.40 respectively.

If at any time a family experiences a change financially, and are not able to afford lunch, please contact Kim Abrassart in the Food Services department or your child’s grade level administrator so alternative arrangements can be made. Communication between students and parents to BBCHS is essential for us to aid in insuring that all students receive lunches. Please reach out to BBCHS with any questions regarding our lunch procedures. Parents can reach out directly to Principal, Dr. Brian Wright (bwright@bbchs.org), or Superintendent, Dr. Scott Wakeley (swakeley@bbchs.org) with any questions or concerns as well.
