By Don Collins

KANKAKEE, Illinois -- The Bradley-Bourbonnais High School bowling team defeated Andrew on Thursday (Nov. 8) on a history making night by a final score of 2070-1008. The win brought the Boilermakers record to 1-0 this season and was the first in school history.

The Boilers started the night off with a win in the first game that was spearheaded by Matt Marzke who led the first game with a score of 257. At the end of the initial ten frames, BBCHS held a 1063-897 lead over the Thunderbolts.

Marzke once again turned in a dominant performance in the second game. He led all bowlers with a score of 245 as BB won the second game 1007-919. He led all bowlers on the evening with a cumulative score of 502 pins.

COACH NANOS

Head varsity coach Matt Nanos became the first coach to earn a bowling win in BBCHS school history. He offered his thoughts on the inaugural night. “It’s amazing. [It’s] not too often with a high school level sport, you can get the first win for your team. Proud of all the boys that came out and bowled today. They all bowled great and stuck together and worked together.”

How will he help the boys prepare for the next match?

“Just have to keep their head on straight,” Nanos said. “Don’t let them get up too high. It’s only one night. We have a long season ahead of us. Take it one day at a time. Back to practice.”
