Boys Soccer Wins Wild Regional Game Against Joliet Catholic

By Don Collins

BRADLEY, Illinois - The Bradley-Bourbonnais High School boys varsity soccer team defeated Joliet Catholic in their regional game on Saturday (Oct. 13) by a final score of 2-1.

The game saw all of the total scoring done in the first half. Niles Roach scored 2 minutes and 43 seconds into the game on an assist from Reid Vandenhout to take a 1-0 lead. Two minutes after that, Bryson George scored on an assist by Pete Sorich to take a 2-0 Boilermaker lead.

Joliet Catholic scored a goal with 30:50 left in the first half to bring the score within one.

The second half was mired in a scoreless rut that saw a mix of penalties and missed scoring chances for both teams. The Boilermakers dug in however on defense and prevailed to advanced to the next round. Despite the adversity, Coach Rohan Robinson was unfazed with the proceedings.

“Going down a player, going down where we are getting calls against us, we have to just learn to tighten your belt and play through it. If you let those little factors get to you, you might as well just say, you know what the game is yours,” Robinson said.
