Art Club is a fun club to join even if you don't have any artistic ability! We meet once a month for an art club workshop that anyone can do! Meetings will be posted in the daily announcements and in Google classroom. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The BBCHS Best Buddies Chapter is one of the largest in the state! Best Buddies is an organization that focuses on inclusion and acceptance of all individuals. Best Buddies pairs students with disabilities with their peers to create meaningful friendships and memories. We have a variety of activities throughout the year including a talent show, Best Buddies Prom, movie nights, bowling parties, etc.

Bettering Boilers is a student-run organization with a goal to feed BBCHS and lessen the amount of food insecurity in our student body through our food pantry. We currently have take-home bags of food and toiletries available to students in need.

The Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School Chess Team competes every week on Tuesdays against other SWSC chess teams and various tournaments on Saturdays. They also compete in the IHSA State Chess tournament in February if they qualify, which is the largest chess tournament in the world! BBCHS CHESS Eligibility Requirements: All BBCHS students are eligible to join, no matter their year in school. No prior knowledge of chess is required, just an open mind and a willingness to learn the game. There is a $10 fee to join.

Drama club is an extracurricular activity designed to engage students in the performing arts and theater.

Boiler Brigade is the eSports team at BBCHS. We are turning the activity of video games from sitting in a room by ourselves into a communicative and positive atmosphere where teamwork is necessary to succeed. We play Smash, Marion Kart, and Rocket League and compete from January to April with practices being held weekly.

Ironclad works to advance high school students’ skill sets in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). The team also promotes FIRST values, such as Gracious Professionalism ™ , creating a culture of learning and understanding not just through our team, but also through the community and school. Ironclad is composed of unique and diverse students harboring a passion for STEAM that will be able to compete successfully at competitions while gaining valuable experience and skills that will last for a lifetime.

Ironclad needs you! We are looking for students with ALL kinds of skills! Do you like building things, web design, video editing, helping others, driving robots, programming, marketing, presentations, or CAD? We may have a spot for you. Robotics is so much more than building a robot!

Students Must Qualify to be Inducted

The National Art Honor Society programs provided national recognition and opportunities for students who exhibit outstanding scholarship in the visual arts.

• Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA as a Junior and/or Senior
• Minimum 15 hours of community service
• Demonstrates leadership as reflected by teacher survey
• Demonstrates a high level of character as reflected by teacher survey
• High level of involvement in BBCHS school culture including but not limited to, extracurricular activities, clubs and sports

Students meeting cumulative GPA requirements as Juniors and/or Seniors are notified and invited to apply to the BBCHS Chapter of National Honor Society in early Fall each school year.
Student applications are reviewed and voted on by an anonymous faculty council.
Students meeting all required criteria are invited to join National Honor Society and are inducted during an induction ceremony taking place in October/November each year.
Once an active member of the BBCHS chapter of National Honor Society, members are expected to maintain the standards required for induction and will complete an additional thirty hours of community service within each school year as an active member.

The Natural Helpers program provides training to students who have been identified as “listeners” by their peers and school staff. Natural Helpers are trained with helping and listening skills so that they may connect vulnerable peers to trusted adults and other appropriate resources.

Students continue to cultivate their robust social networks to implement service projects that aim to support connection with their peers during these times of isolation, and that provide resources to promote mental wellbeing.

Membership includes a $10 t-shirt that will allow you FREE into all football and basketball games if you wear your new year Red Surge shirt. Do you like trivia? Have you ever thought you would make a killing on Jeopardy? Do you have a bunch of random information floating around in your brain, waiting to be put to good use? Then you’re in luck!

Scholastic Bowl, also known as Quiz Bowl and Academic Bowl, is a competition trivia team. We compete in a lot of meets around the area between November and March. We rely on individual knowledge and teamwork to answer a variety of questions over topics such as History, Geography, Science, Math, Literature, Art, Music, Sports, and Miscellaneous.

Student Council members work together by using their voices to plan events and promote school spirit within BBCHS. Students Against Sexual Harassment (SASH) Club is a student-led group dedicated to ending sexual harassment and violence on school campuses. This club is in partnership with Clove Alliance.

The Tri-M Music Honor Society is a program of the National Association for Music Education, which focuses on creating future leaders in music education and music advocacy. Tri-M is the only music honor society for junior/middle school and high school students in the country.

Illinois Youth & Government is a YMCA program that teaches high school students about government and the process through which bills become laws. Simply stated, Y&G is a mock legislature that culminates in a trip to Springfield where bills are presented and voted on by representatives in the actual State Senate.
