Asian Pacific American Heritage Month 2021

  • During the month of May we celebrate the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. The Asian American Pacific Islander community is beautifully diverse and vast, encompassing more than 50 countries and territories, and making up 6 percent of the U.S. population.

This month was chosen to commemorate the arrival of the first Japanese immigrant in the U.S in May 1843, and the completion of the first transcontinental railroad, built with the hard work of thousands of Chinese workers.

As we celebrate this month, we are offering and encouraging you to use this webpage as a resource for growth and learning about Asian Americans and their history. This is an opportunity to explore through stories, videos, and more! As BBCHS continues to take action to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion, we are excited to be able to share resources with our community to do the same!
